Boat Dry Bag Essentials

Water, sunscreen, sand and shared bags make small equipment difficult to manage around boats and beaches. The simplest approach is to separate the wet zone from the everyday-carry zone.

Pack in layers

Layer 1: a dry bag for soft or messy gear.

Layer 2: a smaller waterproof pouch for phone, wallet, keys and documents.

Layer 3: cables and electronics kept outside the wet zone.

Suitable dry-bag contents

  • Towel
  • Spare shirt
  • Socks
  • Small toiletry pouch
  • Wet swimwear after use

Items that deserve a second barrier

  • Phone
  • Passport or important documents
  • Medication
  • Camera
  • Other important electronics

Size guide

  • 5–10 L: small day items
  • 20 L: towel, light layer and accessories
  • 30 L or more: larger clothing or shared group items

Do not assume that an ordinary roll-top dry bag is certified for full immersion unless its documentation explicitly supports that claim.
